Work has begun on book 12, Emissary. Also, a note about the publishing schedule…

I just finished chapter 1 of Emissary.  Throughout the series I’ve had myself on a schedule of roughly one book a month, which has left me very little time for anything else.  Since I started writing the first book in the series on October 21, 2013, nearly ten months have passed and I’ve published eleven books during that time.  The end result of this is that I’m tired.  Not only in the classical sense, but in every sense.  I haven’t spent much time focusing on the other things in my life that I’ve been neglecting, and I haven’t had time to just enjoy the simple pleasure of reading either, not to mention playing music.  I played bass the other day, and realized that it’d been over a month since I played last.

Now I’ve got some things going on here at home that are more important than anything else right now, and those things are going to require quite a bit of my attention.  I will continue to write on Emissary during this time as time allows, but I’m not going to hold myself to the one a month schedule this time around.  It’ll be done when it’s done, and hopefully in the mean time I’ll have gotten plenty of rest and recharged myself a bit.  Writing the way I have been is kind of like working graveyard shift.  It’s awesome for a while, but eventually it catches up with you.  That’s where I am now, and that’s why I’m going to pace myself a bit with this one instead of trying to pound through it like the others.

I will tell you this though.  I’ve got some really fun stuff planned for this book, so it’ll be worth the wait.  Things have been rather heavy in the series for a while now, so I think it’s about time to have some fun again.

Anyway, that’s it for now.  It’s 1:16am and I just finished writing for the evening.  Now it’s time to get some much needed sleep.
