Author Interview Form | |
Tell us your name and where you’re from.: |
My name is Katherine A. Nevitt and I was born in Derby, England. |
What led to your decision to become an author?: |
I have been writing ever since I could use a pen and one day I finally just decided to show my work to the world. |
Tell us about what you’re currently working on, and what you’ve written in the past.: |
The first book I wrote was a fantasy book called Ironblood. Since then I have written four romance stories. Currently I am working on Ironblood book two and can’t wait to share it! |
What are some of your strongest points as a writer, and what if anything are you constantly working to improve upon?: |
I believe I have a knack for keeping a good pace in a story. As a writer I believe that there are always ways we can improve our work whether we believe we’re amazingly talented or need to try harder. |
Are you self published, traditionally published or both? Why did you choose to go that route?: |
I am self published for the simple reason that I wasn’t sure whether I was any good and just wanted to dip my toe in. I am now looking at other options but will definitely continue to self publish. |
What format are your books available in? Which of these formats do you prefer and why?: |
Currently my books are only in Kindle Ebook form but I am looking into paper and hard back books too! |
How do you go about marketing your books?: |
I simply use Facebook and other social media sites as well as word of mouth and putting my book in the sight of everyone that I can. |
Have you ever had to deal with harsh criticism in a review, and how do you handle it?: |
Never with my books but with other things. The way to handle criticism is to take it in and try to better yourself from it instead of letting it get you down. Never stop writing or you’ll lose yourself. |
What are your favorite genres to both read and write?: |
My favorite genres have got to be fantasy and romance with a little mystery mixed in! |
What authors have influenced or inspired you?: |
I am influenced by many authors both celebrity and amateur. I am definitely inspired by the likes of Cassandra Clare and E. L. James. |
What kinds of things do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?: |
I enjoy reading and spending time with my friends as well as working with animals and watching popular TV series. |
What software do you use for your writing? Did you try others before you settled on the one you’re currently using?: |
I’ve always used Microsoft Word. I must say I’m not the brightest spark when it comes to technology. |
What is it that you like about the software you’re currently using that makes it the best solution for you?: |
Its easy to use and the best for the format on the website that I self publish on. |
What’s the best advice you could possibly give to your fellow authors?: |
Write, write and keep writing no matter what. |
Where can people find out more about you and your books?: |
People can find out more about my books on Amazon as well as my author Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/KatherineANevitt |

All this weekend (July 12-13) you can get Origins, the first book of the Unseen Things series for free on Amazon. Just go here and you can pick yourself up yourself a copy. There will be one more single day giveaway next month as well, but why wait?
I just finished my latest interview on Wayne Clingman’s Blogtalk Radio show. Thanks again to Wayne for having me back and for always being such a big supporter of my work.
I just finished chapter 8 of Resurgence, so it’s half way done now. Also, just a reminder that I’ll be interviewed on Wayne Clingman’s Blogtalk Radio show tomorrow. I’ll post the recorded interview here once it’s complete and available.
The Origins free weekend has now ended. Here are the results…
The Origins free weekend on Amazon has now ended. I really went all out in trying to promote this one, so when Saturday came and went and I only had 71 downloads on it, I was really disheartened. Then Sunday came around, things just exploded! Here are the final results for the weekend:
Day 1: 71 – Day 2: 1,307 – Total: 1,378
Best Ranking:
#173 Free in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Free in Kindle Store)
#1 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Fantasy > New Adult & College
#2 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Contemporary Fiction > Fantasy
As you can see I made it to #1 in one genre category, but was frustratingly held out of the top spot in the other. I did make it to #173 overall though in the free books, which is absolutely amazing! Thank you to everyone who helped to make this free promo such a great success.
